Reliable handling of large quantities.

Many different types of packaging are handled by our special industrial disposal services. Depending on type, they are cleaned or separated so they can be used for other materials. ReFood processes food in packaging using state-of-the-art technology and complies with statutory hygiene regulations, particularly the legal requirements for disposing of category 3 materials in accordance with EU regulation 1069/2009, as confirmed in regular checks by official food inspectors. Thanks to the technology available it is possible to make use of a large proportion of the delivered material, which in turn has a positive impact in terms of sustainability.
 
Types of packaging accepted by ReFood under its special industrial disposal services:

• Glass jars for baby food, dairy products, fruit and vegetables
• Tin cans for ready-to-eat products, pet food, soups or sausages
• Tetra packs for beverages, sauces or milk products
• PET packaging for fizzy drinks, beer or dairy products
• Soft PVC packaging for dairy products such as ice cream, curd cheese or cream
• All types of glass packaging and packaging for alcoholic beverages

Receiving goods and transportation
Customers can deliver direct during normal business hours – or 24/7 by arrangement. Alternatively, ReFood staff are glad to arrange collection of pallets, bulk containers or liquid waste. Because the Mützel branch is part of a CHEP pool, pallets can be exchanged on-site at any time.

Storage capacity and processing
We offer our customers large temporary storage facilities for up to 1,000 Euro pallets. Processing capacity is up to 50 tonnes per hour depending on the type of food and the packaging used. If dates are pre-arranged, we can also process goods on a just-in-time basis.
 
Safety in the event of large-scale emergencies
Because ReFood is part of the RETHMANN Group, we have access to specialist units such as logistics and processing centres. This gives us the ability to respond to large-scale emergencies and ensure complete, reliable disposal.
 
Site security
The ReFood site in Mützel is fully fenced off. Delivered loads are stored out of sight in locked warehouses. The entire warehouse and production area is covered by video surveillance, day and night. The whole site is also monitored by security staff when production stops at the weekends or on public holidays, for example.
 
Customs control by arrangement
On request we can also dispose of food under customs supervision. Prompt clearance is ensured thanks to our own auxiliary customs officers.
